This is a tutorial AND a giveaway in one! See the end of this post for how to win!! I'm so excited to share this project with you. It's fun, simple, CHEAP, and awesome.
So, let's get started. Grab your supplies! You will need:
Tiles (Got mine for 16 cents each at Home Depot)
Mod Podge (the kind that dries clear)
Sealant
Pictures (4x6 work great)
Sponge brush
Scissors or paper cutter
OPTIONAL: Scrapbooking stickers
Line your picture up against the tile. You can cover the entire tile if you have a bigger picture, but mine were 4x6 so I used the tile as a border. You could put a piece of scrapbook paper down first and then attach the picture on top if you do not like the plain border. Just have fun with it! Cut your picture down to size.
Brush mod podge across entire tile. Place your picture on top of the tile while mod podge is still wet. Press the picture flat, being careful not to move it.
**If you are going to use stickers, apply them now.**
If you are making a set, repeat these steps with each tile and picture. Then, cover your picture with mod podge.
When the second coat is dry, spray or paint over with your sealant. Let it dry. Repeat this process 2 more times. You will have a total of 2 coats of mod podge and 3 coats of sealant.
When your tiles are completely dry, pair them off into sets of 2 or 4 and tie them with a pretty ribbon. Add a note if you'd like. :) You can add a piece of felt to the bottom of them with hot glue if you want.
These would make great party favors, wedding favors, even part of a wedding present if done right. You could use pictures of your kids if you are making them for yourself, or the kids could help and then give them to grandparents for Christmas or even Grandparent's Day. The possibilities really are endless here. Use scrapbook paper to match your baby shower theme and give them as a prize for one of the games, personalize them with names and give them to your friends, or have dad and the kids make them for you for Mother's Day. Use their drawings or hand prints. :).
Now, onto the fun part. I'm giving away a set of 4 coasters. YOU get to choose the set, and I will ship them to you within 48 hours of drawing your name. Here they are:
Set 1 is ELEPHANTS.. Set 2 is BUTTERFLIES.. Set 3 is FLOWERS.
All you have to do is leave a comment here with your email address so I can contact you if you win. I will choose a winner via random.org on 4/25/2011 at 9PM CST!
For each EXTRA thing you do (listed below), leave ANOTHER comment. Each comment is an extra entry. If you just want to enter once, do nothing but leave a comment telling me which set you'd choose if you won! :)

Making these as we speak.....but with decorative napkins like someone on Cafemom suggested......
ReplyDeleteTIP:
BAD IDEA unless you're into the textured look!
I cannot figure out how to get the wrinkles out of the napkins..........maybe fabric is better?
