Day 3

I completed Day 3 of the SHRED.

The girls came in the living room (they were in the kitchen doing homework and watching me) and wanted to join me. So we worked out together. By the end of it, they disliked Jillian as much as I did.

I was sore when I woke up today. But it seems like it's not lasting quite as long. It seems like 40 minutes instead of like 2 hours like it did. Also it's nice because I kind of know what to expect next, so I get ready for it.

Also, turning up the music and muting Ms. Jillian helps a LOT.

:)

In other news, Sapphire is learning shapes. We tried to do the letter of the week thing but we are all so ADD that it just didn't work. We kept getting off on tangents (letter of the week was "A" but the shape was "square" and then the vocab was "calf" and we were to learn about "cows" too.. we were going in too many directions). So we decided just to focus on shapes and letters, kind of all together. So as I type, Sapphire is tracing some rectangles with tea cup crayons, and Jenelle is helping Grace find the missing numbers on one of her worksheets.

Later, when the younger two go to bed,Jenelle and I will do real homework. Well, not "real", in the sense that it's for school. But real homework like I bought some books off ebay and am trying to get her ready for 3rd grade ASAP.

Day 2.

So I didn't realize I was sore until I started working out today. I woke up feeling alright, and was like okay.. I can do this. Then this evening I started the workout and I was like "OMG.. I CAN NOT DO THIS". But then I thought about everyone reading my blog, everyone I'm sharing my story with, and thought about how utterly embarrassing it would be to have fat before AND after pictures. So, I did it. I didn't like it. I didn't have fun. But I did it, and that's all that matters.

I hate Jillian even more than I did yesterday. I despise her skinny little minions, as well. Though the one girl looks like she is about 6ft tall, which is awesome, I still despise her lol.

I turned Jillian's voice off today. I think it went by faster. I'm not sure if I took as many breaks (less than 5 seconds, per Ms. Jillian) today as I did yesterday, but I was out of breath within the first 5 minutes of the workout for sure.

The bicycle crunches I still can't do without stopping like 4 times. That's sad. But oh well. I'm doing it, and that's all that matters, right?

I can't wait to weigh/measure myself and see if anything has changed next week. If it hasn't, it'll be hard to continue this workout afterwards.

Oh how bad can it be, babe?

"Oh how bad can it be, babe? It's only twenty minutes long."

My famous last words to Rachel before Jillian Michaels kicked my ass.

20 minutes feels like an hour. I looked at the clock every 3 minutes, I swear. Okay every 3 seconds. But still.

I made it through Day 1 of the shred. I only cussed about 25 times. Much better than expected.

Tomorrow is another day. Let's see how that goes.

BEFORE PICS:

So I'm doing it..

I lost 4lbs last week and only .5 this week. Actually, that's a lie. I lost 3lbs this week and gained 2.5lbs back. I know that "my time of the month" is next week and that is probably what's causing it, but it doesn't make me feel any better! Ugh!

I haven't had time to do the wii this week. I did the Biggest Loser a few times but not like I should have. I can't do push-ups to save my life so it's hard for me to do.

I decided I'm going to attempt the 30 Day Shred. You all can follow along and lose weight with me, or maybe I will fail miserably and you guys can laugh (silently, of course). Rachel has now gone from "Obese" to "Overweight" according to the wii!! She didn't eat at Sonic twice this week or eat a Reese's late at night on Wednesday like I did. :/

So anyway, we are BOTH doing the 30 Day Shred. Let's see how it goes. Anyone have results they'd like to share? Anyone brave enough to try it? I'm scared. lol

Rach - 5'5", 169lbs

Arms: 11.75
Chest: 41.75
Stomach: 45
Thighs: 21.25

Me - 6'2", not sure on weight will add it later

Arms: 12.5
Chest: 49
Stomach: 51
Thighs: 23.5

37. knit a ball -- I might still try this one.

38. make heating pad for me and Rach (0/2) -- I bought one from this shop

40. 52 reasons I love you decks, one for each (0/4)

41. drink at least 3 bottles of water each day (Working on that..) -- Doing MUCH better!!

42. fabric book

43. rice sock

44. lose 40lbs (Down 5 lbs as of 3-29) -- I don't remember my starting weight from when I made this goal list but I am steadily losing weight. 4lbs last week 2lbs this week.

45. rainbow cupcakes -- I'm on a low-carb diet.. going to have to make these for someone as a gift.

46. make reusable grocery bag -- knit? out of a t-shirt? not sure yet -- I think I want to make this out of a t-shirt. I need a pattern though..

47. library tote bag -- Not sure .. need patterns.

48. diaper cake -- I don't know anyone that is pregnant but as soon as I find someone, I'm on it! I LOVE making diaper cakes!!

49. go back to college -- Maybe this fall, might have to wait if I have to get a job this fall.

50. make chalkboards -Made a chalkboard table instead

51. set up at flea market -- will definitely do this during the summer!

52. make pop-up card Completed 2-3-2010

53. remote control holder -- we have a section of the ET center perfect for this, no need to do this goal anymore.

54. write 25 articles for eHow -- Please check out my current articles!! (4/25 as of 2-27-2010) -- Got hired by Demand Media.. wrote 3 more articles but they have a limit on how many you can write when you're new so I'm just in limbo now. :)

55. clean hall closet -- done! But it's messy again! lol

56. weigh in weekly - am weighing in on the wii almost daily, just haven't posted about it.

57. make laundry soap -- I need to do this soon!

58. post ad to craigslist for tutus at least once a month (2/12) -- Someone (another tutu maker, I believe) kept flagging my ads, even though they're ALLOWED... so I gave up this month. On CL if you flag something enough, it's taken down even if it doesn't break the rules. :/

59. turn Christmas cards into Christmas tags for next year -- needing ideas for this.

60. teach Grace sign language ABCs (in progress..) -- still in progress. She is learning on starfall.org right now.

...

Rachel has to work tomorrow. :/ Blah. Usually she doesn't work Saturdays but Sunday shift is cancelled this week, and was last week, too.

The girls are really enjoying the homeschooling work I'm giving them. Grace is doing great with her writing. We got her a library card today and she wrote her own name on it. Sapphire is doing better than expected and is GREAT at coloring. She is as good at coloring as BOTH of her sisters. It's kind of creepy. :) Jenelle has been working all week on taking good notes and preparing for the dinosaur report I've assigned her. We got some dino books from the library today as well as some nonfiction movies.

We have lots of cleaning to do tonight. The girls are watching The Incredibles right now but we will be cleaning shortly. I'm going to start typing blogs up and setting them to post ahead of time, so hopefully I will have a post each day. I will also start leaving more comments on other blogs. I've been neglecting that lately.

We are going to the Magic House today!!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I need direction. :)

What direction would you like to see this blog go? I need some advice. :) I plan on doing a homeschooling segment once a week, and Wordless Wednesdays, but other than that, what would you like to see??

Crafts?

Tutorials?

DIY projects?

More homeschooling links?

Goals accomplished, or what I'm working on?

A segment about each person in my family (3 kids, plus me and Rach - would last 5 weeks)?

Any ideas? I am really searching here. Haven't had any comments in a few days!

Thanks.

Monday Madness!

I've decided what I'm going to do with Mondays. I'm going to talk about homeschooling! :) We are starting pre-k with Sapphire, k with Gracelynn, and when school is out I will be reviewing 2nd with Jenelle and then starting on 3rd as soon as possible.

Today we are starting with the Letter of the Week Preparatory Curriculum with Sapphire. She's 3.

This week, the animal is cow. The letter is A. The shape is square. We are going to the library today to see which books we can find from the book list.

Monday - Put on music, dance and moo like a cow.
Tuesday - Draw square on whiteboard, collect 3-5 objects that are square, walk around the house looking for squares, and cut squares out of playdough.
Wednesday - Draw the letter A on the whiteboard, have Saff color the letter A printout.
Thursday - Write the number 1 on the whiteboard, and count 1 of many objects.
Friday - Build a cow with black and white construction paper squares.

We are also members of Enchanted Learning, so I will be supplementing with pages like these. I don't usually print the pages, rather draw up my own that are similar. Rach is a great artist so this seems to be the best way for us so far.

Nursery Rhyme: Hey Diddle Diddle
Vocabulary word: calf

For Gracelynn, who just turned 5, we are starting with the "Big Kindergarten Workbook". We bought it at Wal-Mart for $9.97. I realize I could just print worksheets off but our printer is on the fritz, I don't plan on taking the time to fix it any time super soon, and it costs 20 cents each time I want to print one sheet at the library. This is a similar book for $7.00.

Grace already knows all of her letters, but we will continue to review them as well as the sounds they make. I usually make things but I bought some flash cards from WM as well. I bought an alphabet set(Saff), numbers set (Grace&Saff), sight words set (Grace), and multiplication set (Jenelle, 8). She needs practice writing capital and lowercase letters, because she doesn't quite know the difference for all of them.

We are also going to start back up on Sign Language. I think it's a valuable tool for all kids to have.

Homeschooling for kindergarten, too? Check out this site.

Multiple age groups? Check out this one.

Third grader? How about this.

Jenelle has a friend over today and they are making tutus. It's cute. :) She has a play on Monday so I made her a pettiskirt and some fluffy bows for her hair, and bought her a few boas. She is going to be a peacock. I will take pictures when she tries everything on! :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I've been trying to figure out which way I want my blog to go. I'm great at sharing craft tips but there are only so many to share. I'm also awesome at recipes but again, there's only so many. If anyone has any ideas on what I should blog about feel free to let me know! I will continue working on my goals and blogging about them.. maybe y'all could pick which goals I attempt to accomplish next? There are so many! Which ones would YOU like to see me complete?

Public Service Announcement

*EDIT* This was supposed to post tomorrow but it didn't, so it's actually the day AFTER tomorrow that this will take place.

I usually don't talk about politics, religion, or sexual orientation on my blog.. I don't want controversy here.. however, it is in my heart to share this with my readers. I'm warning you right now, if you are easily offended or homophobic you can skip today's post and just check out my Etsy Shop to kill some time. :) We will return to our regularly scheduled program tomorrow.

Tomorrow is April 16th. What are you going to do to end the silence? That is the question being asked of all students across our country. Visit dayofsilence.org for more information on tomorrow's Day of Silence. This is a day of silence for EVERYONE to stand up against BULLYING.

This video is heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. It's titled "Dear Parents"...

Check out Tips For the Last Minute Organizer -- word travels fast. Start texting your friends NOW so they can be prepared for tomorrow. Stand up against these bullies! This is for all the students that are too afraid to stand up on their own. You will NOT be alone! Stand UP for yourself and for those that can't and have been scared into silence. Stand up!!

4 Things You Should Know About DOS

This is a great video as well.

Please keep in mind this is NOT just about LGBT rights. This isn't just about the gays, it's about EVERYONE who has EVER been bullied! It's for black kids that get called the "N" word, it's for the Muslim girls that are afraid to wear their Hijab because of the relentless bullies in school. It's for the "skinny" girl, for the "tall" girl, it's for ANYONE and EVERYONE who has EVER BEEN BULLIED.

This is a cause near and dear to my heart. Please encourage your teens to participate and spread the word! At least let them know about it so they can make their own decision. They can remain silent just in between classes.. there is no need for it to disrupt their instruction time.

Please take the time to spread the word, this is so important! Bullying needs to stop. Kids are killing themselves left and right because if it, they're shooting up schools because of it, it's a vicious cycle and WE have the power to end it.

Final Touring Tuesday

First of all, I do apologize for taking SO long to get this last edition of Touring Tuesday up. I have been beyond busy with tutu orders, which is a good thing for income but not a great thing for having time to blog lol. Plus I am heavily considering homeschooling the girls all summer to get them ready/ahead for next year, so there is a lot of preparation in that.

Our bedroom is the smaller of the two. We figured it was only fair that the three girls get the bigger room. They have two beds, and a table, and still have plenty of room. Their room is HUGE! Our room, not so much lol. It's a good size, though, for being an apartment. The only thing we would like is an extra closet, but that probably is the case in most lesbian relationships. :)

Our bed.. no, we don't have a frame.. we like it that way. :) And Rach's side of the bed, which is always cleaner than my side!

My side of the bed, one of my cabinets for tulle and stuff.

Our TV with our DVDs underneath.. my balloon from my birthday behind it.. a few candles lit because Rach is constantly lighting them.. and then to the right is my other cabinet for tulle and stuff. Above the cabinet is a calendar I made, April is my birthday month so the picture is of us. Aren't we too cute?!

"Always Kiss Me Goodnight" is kind of our "theme"..

Not sure what Tuesdays will be from now on. Maybe next week we will do an "intro" on Rach. That should be interesting!

Giveaway

Tip Junkie Giveaway

Agh, just finished another Biggest Loser workout. Shoot me now please lol. Luckily on the boxing segment, they said "think of a target" and Jillian's face was right there! I did awesome. ;)

Tomorrow is the last edition of Touring Tuesdays.. MY BEDROOM! AHHHH!

Gracelynn is home from Grammie's house. Sapphire is back to her old self, I think. She was throwing HUGE fits while Grace was gone. No fits and she's been back since Saturday.

I'm starting a low-carb diet for two weeks. Just two weeks, less than 20 carbs a day and making sure I take my vitamin as well as drink at least 3 bottles of water. I'm in a Biggest Loser Challenge on Cafemom and I want need to win.

The girls are watching The Little Rascals. I'm going to make some tutus. Hope everyone has a great day!

My birfday!

I had a great birthday!! :) Rachel designed me a cake and brought it home from the bakery.. then we had a nice lunch with the kids at home. And at about 6:30 our babysitter/friend showed up to take care of the girls while we went out! We went to Outback, and we both had the steak and lobster tails ($14.99! Can't beat it!). Another couple joined us and they brought me a birthday tiara/antenna set thing lol it said "Birthday Princess", plus they brought me a balloon and then they all sang happy birthday to me. It was fun fun!

We went to the casino afterwards and only lost $15... which is awesomeness! I think I'm going to wear my birthday crown every time I go somewhere though.. I got so much attention haha I loved it.

Everyone has been asking if I had a hangover. I drank a water at Outback and a coke at the casino LOL so no hangover here. We were home by 11. Partied it up! hehe.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. I'm trying to figure out what kind of thing to do next after the final Touring Tuesday this week. It's already typed up so NO way it will be missed! Someone suggested me introducing Rachel but I'm not sure how I could go about doing that. Maybe have her fill out a survey? lol No clue. Any ideas???

I can't believe

I'm 25 today!!

A quarter of a century old!!

YAY! :)

Rachel took me shopping at Sally's Beauty Supply this morning... I had a coupon for a free mini hair straightener if we spent $25, PLUS I had a $5 off $25 purchase AND a coupon for Buy 2 get 1 free on pedicure products. Soooo I got a TON of stuff for $25!

And I got a puzzle mold (for making crayons) for 50 cents at Goodwill!! I almost paid $20 for the SAME thing this morning online but Rach was rushing me to get ready so I said I'd look later. Things work out in a weird way, don't they?

Tonight we are going to Outback to eat, and then to Lumiere (casino) to PLAY!! We've never been to this casino so we are excited. Actually we haven't ever been to a casino together so this should be interesting lol.

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

Wee! Or should I say Wii?

Played the wii for a while today. Jenelle and I beat the "Dancing With The Stars" game. That was fun. I love the game. Not sure if I love it enough to buy it, seeing as we beat the amateur level in two days and were probably a third of the way through the professional already. But it got me off my butt.

I'm working on Xanna's tutus. She got her first one in the mail today and loved it! What a relief. It's always a nailbiter when I have a new customer, especially one that has ordered from such awesome tutu makers before!

Tomorrow, we will be going to the Science Center. I'll post lots of pics! :) Hope everyone has a great day.

So busy!

I've seriously been so busy lately! Between making tutus, DOG tutus now, recycled crayons, and dealing with Sapphire's new love for temper tantrums, it's been insane around here! I still haven't finished the final Touring Tuesday, and I doubt tomorrow will be the day seeing as I cleaned the living room today and threw lots of stuff in the bedroom lol. Oh well, it'll happen eventually. Maybe that'll keep you guys coming back then.. at least til I finish, right? hehe.

Jenelle won a bike at the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. She will be blogging about it soon, with pictures. She was wearing a tutu and her picture is going to be in the paper! SUPER excited. :) We got there at the LAST minute, ran to get to the field, and Rach missed it all because she was trying to find a place to park. :/ The whole hunt only lasted like 3 minutes. Over 10,000 eggs and only 8 were bike tickets, and my lucky ducky gets one! I was always lucky as a kid, too.

My birthday is this Friday! I'm going to be 25. Rach and I are going to the casino, and a friend is going to babysit the two girls. Grace is coming home on Saturday evening. She's been at Grammie's for about 3 weeks now. She was supposed to come back the 16th but she misses her sisters somethin terrible, so she's coming home a week early. I didn't blog much about it because I didn't want her father (who lives near Grammie, in Arkansas) to find out she was down there. He's a mess, and I'd rather her not have to deal with the drama.

I've been playing the wii a lot lately. We rented the "Dancing With The Stars" game and I like it a lot. Can't, for the life of me, figure out how to do the "UP" move... the nunchuck and remote both don't work on that ONE move for me. Stupid. But I still do really well. :D The stupid scale says I gained .4lbs this week. BLAH. I have been eating healthier than I think I ever have, I've drank water (not enough, but better than the ZERO glasses I was drinking before), been doing the wii, but still no more weight loss. Again, I say blah.

Sapphire has started throwing HUGE HORRIBLE AWFUL temper tantrums lately. Thank GOD she hasn't thrown one in public yet. I'd die. Seriously die. They are just ridiculous. I have just been trying to ignore them. That seems to work better than when I send her to bed - she just throws a BIGGER fit when I send her to bed. She has no problem with consequences. She doesn't even care that we all got a snow cone tonight and she didn't. Didn't bother her one bit. *sigh* Terrible 3s, I guess.

I got my new wrap in the mail today!! The other one was a bit too short (combination of my fatness and height, and Sapphire being 3 not a baby), but this one is PERFECT!! BABYETTE on Etsy is amazing. She sent me a new one before I even had a chance to send her the old one back, she didn't charge me extra, and she was SO nice. A personal note came with each of the wraps. I've never been happier with ANY purchase I've ever made on etsy.

Well, I'm getting hungry.. and it's late.. so I'm going to drink some water and trick my body into thinking it's full. Maybe. Hmph.

...

Just got some green tea wash for my hair last week and it is awesome. Loving it! My hair is silky smooth. It was starting to get oily from the no poo. This stuff is all natural. Score! :)

Having a hard boiled egg, piece of toast, and banana for breakfast. Dunno if that is really a healthy breakfast or not but it's better than what we usually eat.

Worked out for an hour on the wii yesterday, going to try and do it again every day this week. We will see how that goes. I have a headache.. will try to blog later.

Happy Easter

For those that celebrate Easter in the same way I do, here are a few good Easter verses! Skip to the bottom if you don't want to read them. :)

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. (NIV)

Romans 1:4-5
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. (NLT)

Romans 6:8-11
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

I hope everyone has a great Easter. Sapphire woke up at like 6 this morning and found 5 eggs (we hide them throughout the house) before she woke us up. It's the first year we have done it this way but she knew exactly what to do! She hid them in her room. I think she was unsure if they were for her or not lol. But overall everything ended up pretty equal - Jenelle got 19 eggs, Sapphire got 13, and Gracie is spending time with Grammie so we mailed her an easter basket that should arrive to her tomorrow!

I hope you get to spend time with your friends and family and relax a little today. We are going to barbecue, and I'm working on crayons most of the day. Jenelle is playing outside on her new bike that she won from an Easter Egg hunt yesterday (will blog about that tomorrow!), and Sapphire is going down for a nap as I type this. I played on the wii for 40 minutes earlier which I think is a record for me! :) I even did yoga. Ick. But I survived. It said I've gained 1.1 pounds this week. It's probably because I'm not drinking enough water. My goal for this week is to drink half a gallon a day. I don't know if that's enough, but it's my start.

Semi-Hiatus

So, this may only last a few hours.. I might be ready to blog again later lol but it might last a few days. Sorry, life sometimes gets in the way of blogging. I did take the 365 challenge so I'll try to blog a little something every day but the big posts might be MIA for a bit.

My beautiful little 8 year old got called a lesbian yesterday by a 5th grade girl on the bus because she always sits with the same friend.

To top things off, also yesterday, a girl at school said her stomach hurt because she was hungry so Jenelle gave her one of her snacks (she brings two, one for each recess, daily). Another girl saw it and got mad and STOLE Jenelle's other snack when she was not looking. Stole it out of her backpack, and then ate it in front of her during the next recess! So Jenelle had no snack at all yesterday. She used to bring an extra snack for a boy who never packed one, but then she realized a LOT of people didn't pack one so she had to stop because they were getting mad that she wasn't sharing more. :/ Go figure. It's a no-win situation for her.

I confronted the girl's mom about calling her a lesbian. She didn't care, and she rolled her eyes.

Then, remember the woman I called CPS on for letting her 3 year old wander around the neighborhood? I found her near the creek in the mud, and by glass? Yeah, well, she was at the bus stop this morning (for the FIRST time ALL YEAR.. she always lets her kindergartener walk by himself) and confronted me about the CPS call. I told her I didn't know what she was talking about. The only reason I did that is because I had Sapphire in a wrap on my belly and the woman was obviously ready to box.

On top of it all, I can barely breathe because of these stupid allergies and I still have 2389472893 tutus to make. lol *sigh*

Things will get better.. just pray pray pray (or send positive thoughts my way or dance naked in the forest for me.. whichever you choose!).
